About Iron Standard

Prepared Before Day One. Ready for What Comes Next.

Military preparation can feel overwhelming.

Whether you're a future soldier preparing for Basic Training, an ROTC cadet getting ready for your field exercise, or a National Guardsman packing for drill weekend, there's one question that always seems to come up:

"What do I actually need?"

After years of military service, leadership development, and countless hours spent researching equipment, replacing gear that didn't last, and building organizational systems that actually work, I realized something:

Finding military gear isn't the hard part.

Finding the right gear, and understanding why it matters, is.

Iron Standard was built to solve that problem.

Why Iron Standard Exists

I'm an Army National Guardsman, an Army ROTC Cadet, and someone who has spent more than fifteen years working in retail and wholesale. Throughout my military journey, I've wasted time, money, and energy buying equipment that didn't hold up, replacing products that failed, and trying to organize my gear through trial and error.

I've also watched new recruits, cadets, and soldiers arrive unprepared. Not because they lacked motivation, but because they lacked guidance.

Preparation matters.

The right notebook can preserve critical information in the field.

A well-organized administrative pouch can save valuable time when you need important documents.

Quality foot care can make the difference between focusing on the mission and struggling through unnecessary discomfort, or worse.

Small details matter in the military, and those details can build confidence, improve performance, and support the people around you.

Iron Standard exists to help eliminate the guesswork.

More Than a Military Store

Iron Standard isn't a military surplus store.

It isn't a tactical gear company.

It isn't about selling the biggest catalog of products.

Iron Standard is a Military Readiness Company.

Everything we carry is chosen with one goal in mind:

To help you prepare for your next military milestone.

From Future Soldier Kits and Basic Training Kits to AIT, ROTC, and National Guard Weekend Drill Kits, our products are designed to simplify preparation and help you spend less time wondering what to bring, and more time focusing on what matters.

Every product we recommend is selected because it serves a purpose.

No filler.

No gimmicks.

Just practical equipment, trusted brands, and organizational systems designed to support your success.

Our story

About Iron Standard Readiness

Preparing for your next stage of military service should feel manageable. Iron Standard Readiness is being built to help recruits, cadets, soldiers, and their families find practical essentials and clear guidance in one place.

Why we’re building it

Packing lists and gear choices can take hours to sort through. Our goal is to reduce that guesswork with purposeful readiness kits, useful preparation resources, and individual items you can choose as your needs change.

Meet the founder

I’m Frank Wittkamp, an Army National Guard soldier and Army ROTC cadet with more than fifteen years of retail and wholesale experience. I know the frustration of buying unnecessary gear, replacing equipment, and learning to organize through trial and error.

I started Iron Standard Readiness to turn those lessons into a simpler starting point for others. Preparation means having the tools and information to focus on what comes next.

What’s ahead

Our five core kits—Future Soldier, Basic Training, AIT, ROTC, and Weekend Drill—are in development. Explore the planned range on our homepage; availability and launch dates will be shared when confirmed.
